Lots of back muscles

There was one pose tonight that required a lot of attention to back detail--it was like its own canvas!  Unfortunately, time ran out just as I was getting the pose together.  I also tried out a new ink pen tonight; it's been a long time since I've done some cross-hatching.  Not sure that I like to use it for the poses--it's very unforgiving.  Here they are:

Just got back from a great swim!  It's certainly weird to swim in the winter, but all the same, it was a taste of summer!

It's a start

Bloody beginnings today.  It's been a real long time (it seems!) since I've picked up the brush.  Cracked and crushed the life back into the bristles this afternoon.  Almost forgot how--I think they almost forgot me!  Some Squirrel Nut Zippers and old-school Shakira (no English!--just the way I like it) was all it took to get me started.  Here's the raw start--even though I hate beginnings I'll show it anyhow--I've added more stuff since then.

To be continued...

Reminded me of...

Wow, did I ever have a good night.  I swear there was a God-like spirit in the room.  The model looked like a mix between Rafael Nadal, Gotye, and a few other people I've met before.  I managed 4 drawings/paintings, three of which I think turned out well.  I don't think I did his face justice, but that's the way it goes when you only have 20-30 minutes to do a whole-body sketch.
And one of the other models from a few weeks ago came to show me a drawing he had done of me a while back when he was there to draw, when I wasn't watching...on the sly...and turned me into a zombie.  Funny!!

Here are my images:

Run and run and run

Just got back from a full hour of a blissful sunshine run--first one this year.  Over lumps of ice, navigating various trees and tap dancing on wells of ice.  Love it!  Didn't even fall on my face--we must celebrate the small victories.

It's not a horse, but it'll do.  Had my first drive on our four-wheeler this evening!  Woohoo!

And some pics from a solo spin I had for a full hour on the Rideau Canal the other day.  Found some painters braving the elements, and some nice people to take pictures of me--and I took some other people's for them--it's a nice world when people pleasure-skate on the canal.

At one point, the sun came out and there was this fantastic light coming down.  Wicked.

Cheers, people!

A bit like Egyptian poses tonight

The model tonight was very still; she held the poses very well.  A couple of the poses during gesture drawings and one of these below reminded me of ancient Egyptian reliefs.  Here they are:

At it again...some introspection with visuals and no apologies!

Rideau Canal Adventures

Just got back from a fun skate on the Rideau Canal.  What I love about Ottawa is that you can come across stuff that's happening--serendipity!--at any time.  We saw some figure-skating guys doing some cool jumps and moves in a performance.
There were a lot of crevices in the ice today, but it was still great to be out in the fresh air!

Figure tonight too

Drove around for 15 min. looking for a parking spot and then walked three blocks--all for the love of art.  Here are three drawings; one is missing a hand because I got side-tracked with some cookie business.  All are 20-30 minute poses.  Cheers.

All poise tonight

The model tonight had very good poise.  It was a packed house--(like a gosh darn jamboree!)--and I had some difficulty securing a spot with a good view.  So I stood up and drew/painted for the reclining pose.  Something neat happened, though...I ended up drawing larger.  Good for me!!!
