Diving In

I would like to attach myself to my easel and paint for three days straight!  Not enough time in this life.

Nothing like a fast run and some Opera Trance.  But seriously!

One of those days

Had one of those days where I was pondering over the deep :) question, 'Why is it that I paint?' and then I came home in dress clothes, threw on my painting apron over said clothes and began to finish this painting.  So I guess I'm in it for life...I just can't stop throwing paint around.  I suppose that's a good thing!

Back to some serious work--I'll be finishing up my next painting tonight and hopefully posting it tomorrow--as long as the sun still shines.

Don't know who the author is

"The more coveted, evermore enslaved."

Love it, saw it on a wall; I have been trying feverishly to figure out who said it--I think it was an ancient philosopher.

Experiment with the self-timer part 2

Well, it's Friday, so I'm feeling slightly euphoric, even though the rain, the incessant rain, would like to dampen my spirits.  I am fighting back!  I set up my camera and got a bit silly this's what happened in a visual sequence of events:

Generations--NGC, Oil on Gallery Canvas, 8x8 inches

This painting will be available at Orange Art Gallery in December.

I just can't stop with these quotes!

He who loves, flies, runs, and rejoices; he is free and nothing holds him back.

Henri Matisse

You study, you learn, but you guard the original naivete. It has to be within you, as desire for drink is within the drunkard or love is within the lover.
Henri Matisse

And this one I'm having trouble with...

The pain passes, but the beauty remains.                         Does it really?

Auguste Renoir

Finished my painting; will post it sometime tomorrow...cheers

One more

While I'm in the mood for quotes, here's another:

"We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken."

Fyodor Dostoevsky

And in the meantime, I'm busy working on a large mural-type painting and some more small ones.  Stay tuned in the next few days for those to surface!

A pensive moment

One of my favourite authors:

The cleverest of all, in my opinion, is the man who calls himself a fool at least once a month.

Fyodor Dostoevsky

A Whimsical Moment

I was leaving an event at the National Gallery of Canada some time ago, and the lighting on a "couple" caught my eye; and then a few seconds later, lo and behold, the couple became three (rather funny, I think!) I thought it would make a good mini series. Still can't come up with a title, though. The first one is called "Leaving the NGC" but the second one could be: "Can't Decide," or, "Does He Know?" came to mind. If anyone out there has any other suggestions, feel free to share them!

An Interlude

I enjoyed some time in Gatineau Park today; here's me taking in some fresh air and scouring the scenery for inspiring sights.  There's nothing like a walk in the woods to revitalize the spirit!

Wellington West First Thursday Art Walk Ottawa

Another great evening at Orange Art Gallery for the Wellington West First Thursday Art Walk.  I met and spoke to a lot of interesting people and artists. It's such a great, eclectic show.  Get out and see it over the next few weeks!

No pictures from tonight, but I'll be posting new work over the next little while.  Till next time!

Apple Store

I was really intrigued by these customers in the Apple store; they seemed so engrossed in what they were looking at.  I loved the poses and and the bright colours, and just had to paint it.  I think for a small painting, I managed to get a lot in it!

A slice of autumn

Here's a little piece I did recently; sometimes it's nice to take a break from the city scenes and get back to nature.
