Some pics from the Double Vernissage last night

I had my little digital camera with me last night, so these pictures aren't the best quality, but it gives an idea of what happened last night at Orange Art Gallery (Figureworks Award Show)--the first three photos are from Orange, and the last one is from AOE Selections at the Shenkman centre.  The events were very well-attended; many people there.  Happy to say that I made it to both!!!

Invitation for Figureworks Award Show

Overlooking Mont Tremblant, Québec

The image is from a trip to Mt. Tremblant this past summer; the bright sunshine on this lady really captured how I felt moments before when I had been in the same pose...I think I succeeded in communicating the heat and sort of 'rapture' of literally being on top of the world on an amazing summer day in the mountains.

2nd Annual Figureworks Award Show

"Steven Page, Dragon Boat Festival, Ottawa, 2011," Oil on Gallery Canvas, 24x20 inches

"Colliding Into Sam Roberts, Pembroke, 2011," Oil on Gallery Canvas, 16x20 inches

I just found out that my two recent portraits of Steven Page and Sam Roberts were both juried into the 2nd Annual Figureworks Award show.  There was stiff competition and I'm glad my work was accepted!  To see the paintings up close, come by during the vernissage at Orange Art Gallery, 233 Armstrong St. in the Parkdale Market in Ottawa.  Details are as follows:

The vernissage/award ceremony will be held on September 29 from 6-10 pm.  If you can't make it that night, all works will be on display at Orange Art Gallery from September 28 till October 23, 2011.  Hope to see you there!

Fire Truck

One of my Montréal scenes just sold; the scene is from a one of my recent trips to the city.  I just love Montréal!

$500, SOLD

Métropolitain Brasserie Restaurant

When I walked by the Métropolitain, I was particularly engrossed by the play of red light on the faces and gestures of the people.  The whole scene emanated a sort of 'coziness' in the midst of the open air--a feeling I love so much during warm summer evenings downtown.
